"What good is sitting alone in your room, come share your gay thoughts today. Come to the Gaybaret old chums! Come to the Gaybaret!" The Men's Wellness Gaybaret is an answer to gay men in the North Island who have expressed interest in having soulful gatherings where thoughts and feelings about our gay experiences can be shared through poems, lyrics, book or play excerpts, personal journal entries, or anything they'd like to share that is meaningful to them. If you're not comfortable with sharing anything, you're still welcome to come and listen; but please still bring something meaningful to you to share in case you change your mind! There will be some non-alcoholic beverages and healthy snacks provided. Thursdays starting at 6:30 pm at the Mermaid's Mug Cafe, 357 Wesley St., Nanaimo This place has indoor and outdoor space, (for those who like to smoke) and serves food too. The staff are terrific and will welcome us with open arms! Lets have a nice informal coffee and chat. In the past, this has been a casual, non-bar environment to meet new members of our community. The last Saturday of every month the Vancouver Island Rainbow Association holds a dance at the Value Lodge Motel in Nanaimo The social is put on by volunteers in the Nanaimo area. It's a laid back evening with lots of dancing, entertainment, prizes, snacks, and a "No Host Bar". The motel offers a special rate for those attending the social.
