Stephen Young, Vice-Chair

As a gay man who came out later in life, education, information and access to resources are a big part of the driving force that keeps me committed to the incredible work that AIDS Vancouver Island undertakes.

I started working in the field of HIV/AIDS in the early 90's when I volunteered for, was later hired by, Bruce House, a palliative care hospice for those in the latter stages of AIDS in Ottawa, ON. I'm currently working as a chef in Victoria with plans of obtaining my LPN certification through Camosun College.

I currently hold the position of Vice-Chair of AVI, Co-Chair of the Joint Fund-Raising Committee (AVI and Cool Aid), serve as the cross-board representative between our board and the CoolAid board as well as a member of AVI's fund-raising committee.
