Is rimming (oral-anal contact) risky for HIV?

There have been no documented cases of HIV transmission through receptive (getting) or insertive (giving) anilingus (rimming, licking/eating ass).

Rimming is not and effecient way of transmitting HIV. There may be a small possibility of transmission from insertive (licking) rimming if blood is present in any fecal matter.

However, it is very easy to get some serious STDs from rimming, especially syphilis, gonorrhea, hepatitis A and B and various intestinal parasites.

Any risk from rimming can be reduced by use of a latex barrier, such as a dental dam or an opened condom or latex glove.
