George Pine, Operations Manager
George is our Operations Manager.
George started at AVI as a volunteer, in the Fall of 1997. He was hired temporarily, in June 1998, for a 2 to 4 week period that just refuses to end. He has been, variously, Accounting Assistant, Assistant Coordinator of Administrative Services, Acting Coordinator of Administrative Services, Coordinator of Facility & Information Services, Coordinator of Facility & Information Management (this title change came about, it is suspected, because somebody misspoke while ordering the sign for his door) and, finally - or most recently - Operations Manager.
George's tenure at AVI has been marked, if not marred, by a tendency toward making things up as he goes along (George was the first and only person ever to hold any of the above titles), an air of quiet revolution (he comes from Quebec), an overdeveloped sense of the ridiculous (he has lasted well over 9 years) and a really messy office (really).
